The Moog One represents the pinnacle of analogue synthesis engineering, marking Moog's triumphant return to polyphonic territory after more than thirty years. This tri-timbral powerhouse combines three newly-designed analogue VCOs per voice with dual independent filters, creating the most sophisticated synthesizer architecture ever housed within a Moog instrument. Each voice features a comprehensive signal path including analogue mixer with external audio input, dual-source noise generator, four LFOs, and three envelopes, all secured within a hand-finished Ash cabinet and aluminium enclosure.
The front panel invites tactile exploration with 73 knobs and 144 buttons providing direct access to every sound-shaping parameter. Extended functionality becomes available through per-module "More" buttons that utilise the centre-panel LCD for transparent control access. The oscillator section pushes beyond traditional designs with user-definable triangle/sawtooth wave mixing, variable-width pulse waves, and controllable rise/fall times that can be shaped and modulated for rich harmonic content.
Two distinct filter types provide comprehensive tonal sculpting capabilities: a precision-engineered multimode State Variable Filter alongside the classic Moog Ladder filter with selectable low pass/high pass behaviour. The flexible analogue mixer allows independent routing of oscillators, noise generator, ring modulator, and external audio to different filters simultaneously. Dynamic control comes via three assignable DAHDSR envelopes with per-stage curve sculpting, plus four wide-range LFOs offering MIDI synchronisation, clock division, and extensive modulation possibilities.
The growing effects library includes programmable per-synth and master bus processing with chorus, delay, phase, bit reduction, vocoding, and premium Eventide® reverbs including Blackhole, Shimmer, Plate, Room, and Hall algorithms. While effects processing utilises digital technology, the signal path remains completely analogue with no in-line conversion when insert effects are bypassed, preserving the instrument's pure analogue character throughout the synthesis chain.
