Modal Electronics Cobalt8X 61-Key High Res 8-Voice Virtual-Analog Synth

The COBALT8X pushes virtual-analogue synthesis into uncharted territory, building upon decades of legendary synthesiser heritage while breaking free from traditional limitations. This powerful instrument combines the warmth and punch of classic analogue sounds with cutting-edge digital innovation, featuring eight true polyphonic voices that can create lush string sections and rich pad textures, or unleash monophonic bass and lead patches using all 64 oscillators for stadium-shaking power.

At the heart of the COBALT8X lies its revolutionary oscillator engine with two independent groups of up to four oscillators each, offering 34 unique complex algorithms including Sync, Ring Modulation, and Waveform Morphing. The newly designed self-oscillating 4-Pole Morphable Ladder Filter with Resonance adds warmth and bite, switching between four different filter modes including creative Notch filtering and unusual Phasor textures. Three flexible audio-rate LFOs, three dedicated envelopes, and a sophisticated 12-slot modulation matrix provide extensive control over sound shaping and dynamic expression.

Professional musicians will appreciate the rugged steel and aluminium construction housing a premium FATAR 61-note full-size keyboard with channel aftertouch support. The instrument features 29 endless knobs, 24 buttons, and an X/Y joystick for direct parameter access, while MPE support opens new creative possibilities. The integrated 512-note Realtime/Step Sequencer with four Animation Lanes works alongside a powerful arpeggiator and performance features like Chord Hold and Transpose, complemented by a comprehensive 3-slot effects engine with 11 algorithms including Chorus, Phaser, Stereo Delay, and Reverb.
