Mesa/Boogie's Split Back 4×12 cabinet resurrects a design that defined 80s rock tones–a hybrid topology combining open-back clarity with sealed-chamber punch. The dual-chamber architecture pairs two Celestion C90 drivers in the upper open section with two Celestion Vintage 30s below in a sealed compartment, delivering airy highs alongside tight, defined low-end articulation. This approach eliminates the need for multiple dedicated cabinets when chasing texturally complex sounds across gain structures and song dynamics.
Construction centres on void-free marine-grade Baltic birch plywood braced with Bronco Tolex™ covering and hand-formed leather corners. The cabinet handles 300 watts and ships configured at 8 ohms mono, with dual parallel input jacks for linking additional 8-ohm cabs (resulting in a 4-ohm load). Stereo operation is possible via split-mode inputs that isolate left and right halves at 4 ohms per side. Expanded metal grille protects the drivers, whilst Track-Loc™ guide plates with removable castors simplify transport. Dimensions measure 81.28 cm height, 68.26 cm width, and 39.37 cm depth; total weight is 45.81 kg.
