Meinl Byzance Traditional 16" Medium Thin Crash Cymbal

Meinl's Byzance Traditional 16" Medium Thin Crash delivers a washy, fairly dark character built from B20 bronze alloy. Hand-hammered construction ensures each cymbal possesses individual sonic character, bridging tradition with modern playing demands. The medium-thin profile balances a loud, defined attack with moderate sustain across a full frequency spectrum.

B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin) provides the alloy foundation for warm, complex tones. The 16" size sits between splash and medium crash territory, making it adaptable across drum kits without dominating the mix. Hand-hammering creates surface irregularities that develop rich harmonic content, while the medium-thin weight responds quickly to stick impact without excessive wash or muddiness.

This crash works equally well in darker jazz setups, rock contexts requiring defined articulation, or as a secondary crash in larger kits. The moderate sustain prevents accumulation in dense playing, while the full frequency spectrum means it cuts through without sounding brittle or thin. Gigging musicians and studio players appreciate the balance between presence and control this profile offers.
