The legendary 1937 D-28 stands as the holy grail of vintage acoustic guitars, celebrated for its forward-shifted hand-scalloped X-bracing, pristine Adirondack spruce top, and classic 1 3/4" neck width. These original instruments have achieved almost mythical status amongst guitarists and collectors worldwide.
This contemporary interpretation honours that heritage whilst incorporating Guatemalan rosewood back and sides, along with carefully considered specification refinements that bring it closer to the original than ever before. The body profile has been meticulously updated to match the authentic contours of dreadnoughts from the 1930s and 40s era.
Martin’s VINTAGE TONE SYSTEM® (VTS) plays a crucial role in this guitar’s authenticity, artificially ageing both the top and internal bracing to capture the distinctive tonal characteristics of 1930s instruments. Through this innovative process, Martin’s skilled craftspeople successfully recreate both the visual appeal of a genuine vintage guitar and reproduce those coveted tones that were once exclusive to original vintage instruments.
