The Lehle Sunday Driver II is a high–end preamp, buffer, booster and DI box built around a discrete Class A JFET circuit with studio–grade 130 dB dynamic range. A gold–plated mode selector switch toggles between two operational modes: 'D' for Driver mode amplifies the guitar signal with no colouration at guitar–amp input impedance, maintaining full dynamics while eliminating signal loss across cables and pedals. 'S' mode multiplies input impedance by five, revealing previously hidden detail and adding the characteristic warmth that gives this preamp its name – mellow and musical as a Sunday afternoon.
Maximum gain reaches +18 dB with zero background noise, achieved by rectifying, filtering and stabilising input voltage to 30 V from the power supply socket to fully exploit tube amplifier dynamics. The balanced output functions as a professional DI box and accepts phantom power for flexible stage and studio use. Frequency response spans 20 Hz to 100,000 Hz, delivering extended bandwidth far beyond standard audio range. The compact enclosure houses gold–plated contacts throughout the signal path, ensuring reliability whether used as a cable driver for large venues, a recording preamp, or within complex pedalboard signal chains.
