After more than two decades of shaping the sound of modern music, the legendary microKORG has been completely reimagined with cutting–edge technology whilst preserving the beloved characteristics that made it an industry icon. This new iteration maintains the portable form factor, intuitive mini keybed, signature large dial for program selection, and the famous vocoder with dedicated microphone that musicians worldwide have come to rely on. However, beneath this familiar exterior lies a completely redesigned sound engine that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in a compact synthesiser.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the stunning 2.8–inch full–colour IPS LCD display, which transforms the editing process into an intuitive visual experience where users can literally see their sounds take shape. This visual approach extends to the innovative genre–based Category and Bank selector system, organising sounds into Classic, Modern and Future categories across eight genre classifications. Each category contains eight preset programs, with the ability to store up to 64 personal favourites in the User Bank, eliminating the frustration of endless preset browsing.

Korg has significantly expanded the sonic possibilities with three independent effect series featuring nine new modulation types with dynamics effects, plus six varieties of delay and reverb. The integrated loop recorder adds another dimension to the instrument’s versatility, allowing musicians to create backing tracks through looping and overdubbing with simple three–button operation. Combined with the enhanced vocal processor offering harmoniser and hard–tuning functions, the new microKORG stands as the ultimate production and performance tool for today’s diverse musical landscape.

Version 2.0 transforms the microKORG2 into a more powerful creative instrument. It adds logue SDK support for loading or building custom oscillators and effects, a Sinevibes plugin collaboration with 15 titles, Split Mode, and an enhanced loop recorder with step– and slice–recording plus WAV import/export. New OSC3 Low (LFO) and virtual patch modulation options further expand sound design and live performance potential.
