The KROSS 2 redefines what a portable workstation can achieve, packing professional-grade synthesis and sampling capabilities into an ultra-lightweight, battery-powered instrument. This successor to the popular KROSS dramatically expands the sonic palette with over 1,000 preset sounds and newly added expansion PCM memory. The enhanced polyphony has grown from 80 to 120 voices, whilst the internal program count has jumped from 809 to 1,075 programs, including multi-layered pianos, rich strings, and contemporary drum kits covering current styles like EDM.
At the heart of the KROSS 2 lies KORG’s high-quality EDS-i Enhanced Definition Synthesis-integrated sound engine, borrowed from their professional synthesizer range. Musicians can utilise seven effects units simultaneously – five insert and two master – drawing from a selection of 134 high-quality effects including delay, reverb, amp modelling, vintage effect units, and vocoder functionality. The intuitive user interface makes operation straightforward for beginners whilst maintaining the depth professionals demand.
A standout feature is the unique 16-pad sampling function, allowing users to record from the LINE IN jack and assign stereo samples of up to 14 seconds per pad. The built-in stereo audio recorder enables performance capture and overdubbing, whilst the pad audio play function can handle extended recordings limited only by SD card capacity. Connectivity options include a 1/4" phone MIC IN jack for direct microphone connection and a LINE INPUT stereo mini-jack for audio players or sampling sources.
The KROSS 2 maintains the series’ exceptional portability with thoughtful design improvements. The 88-key model features an accessory compartment for spare batteries or cables, plus an easily accessible front-located battery panel. Both models sport a fully illuminated rear panel KORG logo, ensuring stage presence whilst delivering the creative freedom that makes this synthesizer platform truly versatile.
