The KROSS 2 redefines what’s possible in a compact, battery-powered workstation, packing professional-grade synthesis and sampling capabilities into an ultra-lightweight design. Building on the success of its predecessor, this evolved model dramatically expands the sonic palette with over 1,000 preset sounds and newly added expansion PCM memory. The polyphony has increased from 80 to 120 voices, while internal programs have grown from 809 to 1,075, including multi-layered pianos, rich strings, and contemporary drum kits covering everything from traditional styles to modern EDM.
At the heart of the KROSS 2 lies KORG’s high-quality EDS-i Enhanced Definition Synthesis-integrated sound engine, borrowed from their professional synthesizer range. Musicians can utilise seven effects units simultaneously – five insert and two master – drawing from 134 premium effects including delay, reverb, amp modelling, vintage units, and vocoder. The instrument introduces a groundbreaking 16-pad sampling function, allowing users to record up to 14 seconds of stereo audio per pad from the LINE IN jack, with comprehensive editing capabilities and the ability to trigger four pads simultaneously.
The redesigned user interface prioritises intuitive operation with an improved panel layout and dedicated realtime control section for direct parameter access. The favourite function has doubled to 128 locations, perfect for live performers requiring instant access to specific sounds. Additional features include a built-in stereo audio recorder for capturing performances, pad audio playback for extended samples limited only by SD card capacity, and USB audio/MIDI interface functionality, making the KROSS 2 equally suited to stage performance and studio production.
