Built around Korg's XMT (eXpanded Modelling Technology) sound engine, this synthesiser streamlines complex oscillator programming through intelligent pre-set algorithms, allowing quick access to rich, stage-ready tones. The comprehensive oscillator collection spans classic sawtooth and square waves through to intricate noise patterns and PCM/DWGS capabilities, providing extensive tonal versatility for any musical application.

At the heart of the KingKORG NEO sits a meticulously crafted filter section featuring modelled recreations of iconic analogue synthesisers from the '70s monophonic era, '80s polyphonic new wave machines, and Korg's legendary MS-20. These filters offer authentic self-oscillation when resonance is increased, opening up ethereal textures and powerful resonant tones. The integrated 16-band vocoder system includes a balanced XLR input and high-quality microphone, with sophisticated formant shifting and individual band control that rivals dedicated vocoder units.

The synthesiser's flexibility extends through its Virtual Patch system, which brings classic MS-20-style patching into the digital realm with six assignments per timbre for connecting control signals to sound parameters. Three master effect slots provide PRE FX distortion and amp simulation, MOD FX phaser and chorus effects, plus REV/DELAY ambient processing, all controlled via dedicated front-panel dials. The 200 preset programs span eight categories including SYNTH, LEAD, and BASS, while the versatile step arpeggiator generates automatic phrases with six selectable types and customisable step parameters for enhanced rhythmic possibilities.
