The 8-inch woofer reaches down to 41 Hz, making this the lowest-reaching two-way monitor in JBL's 3 Series MkIII range. That extended bass response targets electronic music producers, EDM and DJ work, film composition, and any production where kick drums, basslines and low synth fundamentals need to be heard accurately. The woofer uses a stiffer cone material, a 20 oz magnet assembly and aluminium shorting ring to deliver controlled low-frequency output with reduced distortion. A front-firing Slipstream port keeps bass response predictable even when the cabinet sits near walls or on desks where placement options are tight.
The high-frequency driver has been fully redesigned for greater detail and linear excursion, working with a JBL Image Control Waveguide that holds a 120 x 90 degree coverage pattern across the listening area. Power comes from 110 watts of bi-amplified Class D amplification, pushing the monitors to 113 dB peak SPL with the headroom larger rooms demand. The rear panel includes a balanced Neutrik combo input accepting XLR or TRS connectors, with user-selectable +4 dBu / -10 dBV input sensitivity for straightforward integration with mixers, interfaces and other gear. Four one-touch controls access 81 corrective EQ combinations to compensate for room acoustics.
Eight integrated M4 mounting points with a 75 x 75 mm pattern allow the monitors to be positioned as a stereo pair, main or surround channels, or part of a multi-channel immersive monitoring system. The combination of extended bass, high output capability and flexible mounting makes these monitors effective in larger control rooms where two-way designs typically struggle with low-end extension. The pair configuration provides matched performance across left and right channels.
