From a 9–year–old apprentice in Istanbul's only cymbal factory to a globally recognised craftsman, Agop Tomurcuk's journey spans over eight decades of cymbal–making mastery. Born in 1941 in Istanbul's Samatya neighbourhood, Agop followed his older brothers Oksant and Garbis into the ancient art of cymbal smithing, creating instruments that now resonate on stages across the world.
These cymbals produce a dark and trashy attack with a washy character that decays quickly. The unique design allows for versatility — insert an additional 17" Dry Dark Crash as the bottom cymbal for a focused attack on top and a fat, crunchy sound on the side, plus a more prominent chick. When paired with the 17" Dry Dark Crash as an alternate bottom, they maintain their dark, trashy character while keeping volume at moderate levels.
Beyond their hi–hat configuration, these cymbals offer multiple playing options. The top cymbal functions as an explosive, full–bodied crash when used independently, while the bottom cymbal serves excellently as a small light ride or creates distinctive bell effects, making this a truly versatile addition to any drummer's setup.
