From a 9–year–old apprentice in Istanbul's only cymbal factory to a global legend spanning eight decades, Agop Tomurcuk's remarkable journey began in 1941 in the vibrant Samatya neighbourhood. Following his older brothers Oksant and Garbis into the ancient craft of cymbal–smithing, young Agop started learning the trade that would eventually see his cymbals resonate on stages across the world. Today, more than 80 years later, the Agop lineage continues to be heard in practice spaces and performance venues in every corner of the globe.
Istanbul Agop cymbals represent a perfect blend of historical reverence and contemporary artistry, crafted to express genuine musical intent. The 14" Mel Lewis Hi–Hats showcase this philosophy beautifully, offering musicians a warm, full–bodied sound that's characteristically soft, washy and buttery. These cymbals embody a true classic sound that pays homage to decades of Turkish cymbal–making tradition while meeting the demands of today's discerning drummers.
