From a 9–year–old apprentice in Istanbul's only cymbal factory to a global legend spanning eight decades, Agop Tomurcuk's remarkable journey began in 1941 in the vibrant Samatya neighbourhood. Following his older brothers Oksant and Garbis into the ancient craft of cymbal–smithing, young Agop learned the traditional techniques that would eventually resonate across concert halls and recording studios worldwide.
Istanbul Agop cymbals honour this rich heritage while maintaining their relevance in today's musical landscape. Each cymbal is crafted to capture genuine artistic expression, with the 30th Anniversary Hi–Hats showcasing the brand's mastery through their papery thin construction, lightning–fast decay, and distinctive trashy yet controlled wash that defines their unique character.
The lineage of Agop's cymbals now reaches every corner of the globe, gracing stages from intimate venues to major concert halls. These instruments represent more than mere percussion — they carry forward a tradition of Turkish craftsmanship that has been refined over generations, offering musicians authentic tools for creative expression.
