The Hohner Rocket Amp is a diatonic harmonica engineered specifically for amplified performance, where standard open–sided cover designs lose projection and clarity when cupped over a microphone. Closed side panels channel all acoustic energy directly into the mic capsule rather than bleeding off–axis. This G–tuned model uses 0.9 mm brass reed plates and 20 brass reeds across 10 holes, delivering three octaves in standard Richter tuning with the tonal focus demanded by stage players who need maximum SPL transfer without feedback.
The comb is ABS with rounded sides, edges and corners – a design approach uncommon in production harmonicas that eliminates sharp contact points during extended playing. Reed plates sit recessed into the comb for a more comfortable mouthpiece surface. Stainless steel cover plates feature wider channel openings than the standard Rocket series, balancing the closed–side acoustic isolation with internal airflow optimisation. TORX screws secure the assembly for disassembly and maintenance access. The instrument measures 10.2 cm in length and ships with a snapcase for transport and storage between performances.
