The Gibson Theodore Standard brings to life a legendary design that remained hidden in Ted McCarty’s 1957 sketches for over six decades. Originally conceived by Gibson’s visionary president and previously only offered through the Custom Shop’s limited–edition programme, this remarkable instrument now makes McCarty’s original vision accessible to players worldwide.
Built around a mahogany body foundation, the Theodore Standard showcases distinctive double Florentine cutaways that grant unrestricted access to all 22 frets. The SlimTaper™ mahogany neck features a rosewood cap and flows seamlessly into the guitar’s balanced construction, creating an exceptionally comfortable playing experience that suits extended sessions.
The striking scimitar headstock houses precision Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, whilst the tonal heart comes from a matched pair of 57 Classic™ and 57 Classic Plus humbucker™ pickups. This powerful combination produces effortless sustain alongside a rich palette of tones that spans from warm, vintage warmth to contemporary bite. Each Theodore Standard includes a protective hard–shell case.
