Gibson's Songwriter Recording Artist EC represents a modern take on the brand's enduring dreadnought formula, combining the squared shoulders and long-scale construction favoured since the 1990s with tonal architecture rooted in the company's 1936 Advanced Jumbo designs. Built in Bozeman, Montana, the instrument pairs a thermally aged Sitka spruce top with rosewood back and sides, delivering the clarity and punch demanded by recording and performing musicians who rely on acoustic tone capture and live amplification without compromise.

Construction centres on a 25.5" scale mahogany neck with round profile, bound ebony fretboard, and twenty frets finished with mother-of-pearl diamond inlays. The neck joins the body via compound dovetail and hot hide glue for maximum tonal coupling. Electronics are handled by the L.R. Baggs™ HiFi system—dual bridge plate sensors paired with an onboard preamp that prioritises string articulation, dynamic response, and feedback rejection. Soundhole-mounted tone and volume controls remain player-accessible yet visually discrete. The ebony bridge incorporates bone saddle and TUSQ® pins, whilst gold Grover® open-back tuners and a rosewood-veneered headstock with mother-of-pearl crown inlay complete the package. A Gibson hardshell case is included.

The cutaway body design provides practical upper-fret access for lead work and extended melodic range, making this model particularly suited to singer-songwriters and fingerstyle players who integrate soloing into their live and studio repertoire. The L.R.
