Born from Gibson's ambitious vision during the culturally turbulent 1930s, the Advanced Jumbo emerged as one of their most exceptional acoustic designs, though limited production numbers meant it remained largely undiscovered by the masses. This Gibson Custom 1936 Advanced Jumbo recreates that legendary instrument with meticulous attention to detail, featuring a thermally aged red spruce top paired with solid rosewood back and sides, all bound together with hide glue-fitted hand-scalloped X-bracing that produces the rich, mature tone of a well-loved vintage guitar.
The mahogany neck showcases the vintage Advanced Jumbo profile with a 25.5" scale length, rosewood fretboard sporting a comfortable 12" radius, and elegant mother-of-pearl diamonds and arrows inlays across its 19 frets. Premium appointments include bone nut, saddle, and bridge pins, Waverly tuning machines, and the distinctive firestripe pickguard in its original Advanced Jumbo configuration with an open slot rectangular bridge design.
What sets this instrument apart is the Murphy Lab Heavy Aging treatment, where skilled artisans simulate decades of genuine play wear through heavily weather-checked finishes, belt buckle marking, subtle arm wear, and natural neck aging. This process, combined with aged nickel hardware, captures the authentic character and feel of an original Golden Era Gibson without the astronomical price tag or potential structural concerns of an 80-year-old instrument. The guitar arrives with a period-correct hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
