Gibson's legendary Country Western acoustic guitar returns with all the vintage charm and tonal excellence that made it one of the most sought-after reissues in the company's history. Originally launched in 1962 as a square shoulder variation of the popular Southern Jumbo, this iconic model combines the body shape of a Hummingbird with a natural finish and classic tortoise pickguard, creating a distinctive look that has captivated players for decades.
This 1963 Country Western features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top supported by Gibson's traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, paired with solid mahogany back and sides for rich, vintage-inspired tone. The mahogany neck boasts a comfortable round profile with a 24.75" scale length, while the bound Indian rosewood fretboard includes a 12" radius, 20 frets, and elegant mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. Premium appointments include a rosewood belly-up bridge, bone nut and saddle, and smooth Gotoh tuners with white buttons.
The Murphy Lab artisans have applied heavy aging throughout, creating the authentic look and feel of a well-loved vintage instrument complete with weather-checked finish, belt buckle wear, and subtle arm and neck wear. This meticulous attention to detail provides all the character and playability of a genuine sixty-year-old guitar without the vintage price tag or potential reliability concerns. The guitar comes complete with a period-correct black hardshell case featuring goldenrod interior and certificate of authenticity.
