Gibson's Les Paul Studio Session represents a refined approach to the Studio line's original formula. Rather than chase cosmetic flourish, this model addresses player feedback through engineering upgrades: a weight-relieved mahogany body that reduces fatigue across extended sessions, combined with an AA-grade figured maple cap that brightens the midrange without sacrificing the warmth inherent to traditional Les Paul construction. The glued-in mahogany neck locks tone into place through direct body coupling, whilst the Modern Contoured Heel opens upper-fret access without compromise.

Electronics span two custom–wound humbuckers: a '57 Classic' in the neck position and a beefier '57 Classic+' at the bridge, each with independent volume control and push/pull coil-tap switching. The tone circuit adds phase-switching capability and a Pure Bypass mode that routes the bridge pickup straight to output, sidestepping the control stack for signal purity. Fretwork includes 22 medium jumbo frets across a 12-inch radius ebony board with acrylic trapezoid markers; the SlimTaper neck profile balances chord work and lead articulation. Hardware comprises Grover Rotomatic tuners, a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, and Graph Tech nut, all contributing to tuning stability across marathon sessions.

This configuration delivers the classic Les Paul voice heard on decades of recordings without the weight penalty or price premium of higher-spec models. The soft-shell case provides practical protection for transportation and storage.
