Since its 1942 debut, the Gibson J-45 has become the acoustic workhorse across countless studio sessions and live stages. Built in Bozeman, Montana by Gibson's acoustic luthiers, the J-45 Special brings USA-crafted construction and tonal credibility to a price point that doesn't demand compromise. The guitar's concert-depth body and reinforced scalloped X-bracing deliver warm, balanced tone with dynamic range suited to recording and performance across genre boundaries.

Construction centres on solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, joined via traditional compound dovetail neck-to-body joint secured with hot hide glue. The utile neck carries Gibson's SlimTaper® profile for fast playability, while the rosewood fretboard spans 628.65 mm with a 12" radius and 20 standard frets fitted with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. Hardware includes a belly-up rosewood bridge, TUSQ® saddle and bridge pins, plus Grover® Rotomatic® nickel tuners. Satin nitrocellulose finish in Satin Ebony minimises fingerprints while the 43.815 mm nut width suits varied hand sizes. An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup with soundhole-mounted volume control provides studio-ready amplification without modification.

The concert-depth body proves lighter and more manageable than the standard J-45, tightening bass response for clearer tracking and easier sustained playing. That leaner character sits cleanly in dense mixes whilst retaining the J-45's signature warmth. A premium soft-shell case ships included, protecting the instrument during transport between home studio and gigs.
