Gibson's J-45 has anchored acoustic recording and live performance since 1942, earning its reputation as “The Workhorse” through straightforward design and genuine tonal versatility. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana by Gibson's acoustic specialists, this left-handed Special model delivers a USA-built instrument at a notably accessible price point. Its round-shouldered body combines solid Sitka spruce with genuine solid mahogany back and sides, braced with traditional scalloped X-bracing for warm, balanced tone across dynamic range and musical contexts.

The concert-depth body sits slightly shallower than the J-45 Standard, yielding a tighter, leaner bass response that integrates cleanly in mix and reduces fatigue during extended playing sessions. A utile neck with SlimTaper® profile connects via compound dovetail joint and hot hide glue, while the rosewood fretboard spans 628.65 mm across 20 frets with 12” radius and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. Hardware throughout reflects quality engineering: Graph Tech nut at 43.815 mm width, TUSQ® saddle and bridge pins, traditional belly-up rosewood bridge, and Grover® Rotomatic® nickel tuners. An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup with soundhole-mounted volume control arrives pre-installed and ready to record.

The satin nitrocellulose finish in Natural enhances the instrument's visual character without compromise to resonance. Left-handed orientation maintains full specification parity with right-handed equivalents, and a premium soft-shell case provides protection for transport and storage.
