Gibson's Hummingbird has held court since 1960 as the originating square–shoulder acoustic and remains a studio and stage staple for its sonic range. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana by Gibson's acoustic specialists, this left–handed iteration pairs traditional construction with modern electronics. The Southwestern Turquoise finish delivers distinctive visual impact while the solid mahogany back and sides couple with a solid Sitka spruce top to yield warm, resonant fundamentals across strummed rhythms and picked melodic passages alike.
Construction centres on a compound dovetail neck joint using hot hide glue and a rounded mahogany neck profile, bound rosewood fretboard with 20 frets and mother–of–pearl parallelogram inlays. The rosewood bridge pairs with a TUSQ® nut and saddle for tuning stability, supported by Grover® Rotomatic® tuners. The scalloped X–braced spruce top and multi–ply binding frame both faces. Factory–equipped L.R. Baggs® VTC electronics feature an under–saddle piezo and active preamp with volume and tone controls positioned discreetly at the soundhole edge, making the instrument performance–ready immediately upon unpacking the included hardshell case.
The iconic Hummingbird pickguard graphics and proven architecture have attracted recording and touring musicians across rock, alternative, and acoustic–forward contexts. Left–handed orientation ensures proper ergonomics and fretting hand comfort for southpaw players, without compromising the tonal integrity or build quality of the right–handed standard specification.
