Since 1932, Gibson's L–00 has stood as the definitive small–body acoustic guitar, and the new L–00 Special continues this legendary tradition with exceptional craftsmanship from Gibson's acoustic luthiers in Bozeman, Montana. This USA–built instrument offers players premium Gibson quality at an accessible price point, featuring genuine solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top. The traditional scalloped X–bracing provides balanced tone with excellent dynamic range, while single–ply binding adorns both the top and back perimeter.
The L–00's narrower waist creates a focused and nuanced sound character, naturally producing a leaner, tighter bass response that sits perfectly in any mix. This tonal profile makes it ideal for fingerstyle playing and blues, though it adapts beautifully to various genres and playing styles. The utile neck features Gibson's signature compound dovetail joint, secured with hot hide glue, and sports a comfortable SlimTaper profile for fast, effortless playing.
Premium appointments include a rosewood fretboard with 12" radius, simple mother–of–pearl dot inlays, and 19 standard frets. The closed slot rectangular rosewood bridge houses a TUSQ saddle, with matching TUSQ nut and bridge pins, while Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners provide reliable tuning stability. Available in Satin Vintage Sunburst or Satin Wine Red nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, the L–00 Special comes stage–ready with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under–saddle piezo pickup system featuring soundhole–mounted volume control, all protected in a premium soft shell case.
