The new J–45 Special continues this proud tradition, handcrafted by Gibson's skilled acoustic luthiers in Bozeman, Montana, offering musicians a genuine USA–built Gibson acoustic at an exceptional price point.

The J–45 Special features a round shoulder body crafted from solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, reinforced with Gibson's traditional scalloped X–bracing. This premium tonewood combination produces warm, balanced tones with outstanding dynamic range suitable for any musical style. The "concert depth" body design is slightly thinner than the standard J–45, resulting in a more focused, tighter bass response that cuts through any mix whilst providing enhanced playing comfort.

Construction details include a utile neck joined to the body via compound dovetail joint and secured with hot hide glue, following Gibson's time–honoured methods. The comfortable SlimTaper neck profile and 12" radius rosewood fretboard with mother–of–pearl dot inlays and 20 standard frets ensure smooth playability. Quality appointments include a traditional belly–up rosewood bridge with TUSQ saddle, TUSQ nut and bridge pins, plus reliable Grover Rotomatic tuners for stable tuning performance.
