Gibson's J-45 Standard ranks as the company's best-selling acoustic model since its 1942 debut, earning the moniker "The Workhorse" through decades of studio and stage use. The round-shoulder dreadnought design delivers articulate dynamic range with warm midrange presence and controlled bass response, underpinned by solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top.
Construction centres on a mahogany neck with SlimTaper® profile secured via compound dovetail joint for superior tonal transfer and sustain. The rosewood fretboard carries 20 standard frets with mother-of-pearl dot inlays, whilst the headstock features Gibson's pearl logo and high-quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines paired with a TUSQ® nut for tuning stability. A rosewood belly-up bridge with TUSQ saddle and pins completes the acoustic architecture, finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer with tortoiseshell pickguard. An L.R. Baggs™ VTC under-saddle pickup and preamp with volume and tone controls mounted in the soundhole provides studio and live-performance amplification without visual obstruction.
