Gibson J-45 Special (Satin Ebony) inc Soft-Shell Case

Gibson's J–45 has anchored the acoustic guitar landscape since 1942, earning its reputation as “The Workhorse” through uncompromising design and sonic versatility. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana by Gibson's acoustic specialists, the J–45 Special delivers authentic USA–built quality without the premium price tag. The instrument remains one of the most documented acoustic guitars across studio recordings and live stages, backed by decades of artist endorsement and real–world performance data.

Construction centres on a round–shouldered body pairing solid mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, reinforced by traditional scalloped X–bracing. The concert–depth profile measures slightly shallower than the Standard variant, resulting in tighter bass definition and improved ergonomics. Hardware specification includes a utile neck joined via compound dovetail and hot hide glue, a comfortable SlimTaper® profile, 20–fret rosewood fingerboard (12” radius), TUSQ® nut and saddle, and Grover® Rotomatic® tuners. An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under–saddle pickup with soundhole–mounted volume control ships pre–installed, enabling immediate amplified performance.

The satin nitrocellulose finish in Satin Ebony delivers low–gloss aesthetics whilst preserving wood resonance characteristics prized by recording musicians. Paired with the included premium soft–shell case, this configuration serves session work, touring, and studio documentation equally well.
