Born from Gibson's bold vision in 1958, the Explorer was so revolutionary that only 19 guitars shipped in its debut yearyet this radical design would go on to define rock music for generations. The Gibson Custom Shop has meticulously recreated this legendary instrument as a Historic Reissue model, celebrating the brand's heritage through uncompromising accuracy and authentic craftsmanship that represents the pinnacle of guitar manufacturing excellence.
This vintage-inspired Explorer showcases classic features that made the original so distinctive, including a korina body paired with a matching korina neck and Indian rosewood fretboard. The guitar comes equipped with Custombucker pickups for that unmistakable Gibson tone, while the ABR-1 bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece provide the solid foundation these instruments are renowned for.
Premium appointments include two volume controls and one tone control featuring CTS pots with a phone book capacitor, all complemented by gleaming gold hardware and reliable Kluson tuners. The 4-ply black pickguard maintains the authentic vintage aesthetic, and each instrument arrives in a historically accurate case with classic brown exterior and luxurious pink interior lining.
