The Gibson Les Paul™ Custom made its debut in 1953, but 1954 marked the first complete production year for this sophisticated, tuxedo-inspired instrument. This model holds historical significance as the inaugural guitar to feature the now-iconic ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, setting a new standard for guitar hardware that continues today.

This Custom Shop reissue faithfully recreates the earliest Les Paul Customs with authentic specifications including two Soapbar P-90 pickups and elegant gold hardware throughout. The guitar features a solid one-piece mahogany body, period-correct Kluson® Waffleback® tuners with plastic buttons, CTS® potentiometers, and traditional paper in oil capacitors for authentic vintage tone.

Each instrument arrives complete with a Custom Shop hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring both protection and verification of this exceptional reissue’s pedigree and craftsmanship standards.
