Genelec's 9320A controller combines monitor management, calibration hardware, USB interface, GLM remote operation and headphone amplifier into a single desktop unit, streamlining the connection between loudspeaker and headphone reference listening across stereo and immersive formats. The Personal Reference Monitoring configuration pairs the 9320A with factory-matched 8550A headphones to deliver calibrated accuracy across both in-room and personal monitoring environments. Physical controls provide direct access to Smart Active Monitoring, Genelec Loudspeaker Manager and Aural ID Technology without cycling through software windows, accelerating workflow and enabling quick switching between monitoring layouts while maintaining consistent level alignment across all outputs.
The headphone output drives impedances from 16 to 600 ohms with total harmonic distortion plus noise below –110 dB and 126 dB dynamic range, delivering up to 6 volts RMS for high-impedance professional cans. Analogue and AES/EBU connectivity supports both fixed and adjusted line signals, with the AES output achieving 138 dB A-weighted dynamic range and frequency response extending to 46 kHz across all paths. The included factory-calibrated reference microphone enables GLM software calibration of SAM monitor systems and generates detailed GRADE room acoustic reports. Continuous A, C and Z-weighted SPL monitoring appears on the backlit display, logging sound exposure dose for in-room and headphone listening with user-configurable alarms to support hearing preservation.
USB Type-C connection supplies power and handles audio up to 24-bit/46 kHz with 2 to 3.2 ms latency, maintaining compatibility with any DAW and audio interface system. Maximum analogue input level switches between +12 dBu and +24 dBu to accommodate varying source levels, while balanced line outputs provide 6 volts RMS into loads as low as 10 ohms. The 9320A functions as a high-quality analogue-to-AES and AES-to-analogue converter, routing USB computer audio to any output format. Aural ID Application software adds binaural virtual monitoring from stereo through immersive formats using personalised head-related transfer functions, with the 9320A providing the reference-grade amplification required for accurate spatial reproduction on headphones.
