Genelec's three–way 8351B stands apart through a coaxial driver architecture that collapses midrange and treble into a single acoustic point source, eliminating the phase errors that plague conventional monitor designs. The result is imaging precision that tracks across the stereo field without the fatigue–inducing coloration typical of larger studio speakers. Built from die–cast aluminium in a relatively compact footprint, these monitors anchor Genelec's SAM® (Smart Active Monitoring) ecosystem, which uses networked calibration to adapt to your room rather than pretend room problems don't exist.

The 8351B pairs a 130 mm coaxial midrange driver with a 25 mm metal dome treble unit, both housed in a reflex–ported enclosure tuned to deliver 38 Hz to 20 kHz (± 1.5 dB). Peak SPL reaches 118 dB per pair at 1 metre with music material, supporting extended mixing sessions without strain. Connectivity includes XLR analogue input and dual CAT5 GLM network ports for computer control via Genelec's Loudspeaker Manager software, which applies room compensation EQ, delay alignment, and the AutoCal® 2 automated calibration algorithm. Self–generated noise sits at 5 dB SPL or lower, while harmonic distortion remains below 0.5  per cent above 100 Hz.

Recording musicians working in treated or untreated rooms will find these monitors invaluable for catching mix decisions that actually survive translation to other systems. Singer–songwriters doing home studio work benefit from the GLM software's ability to compensate for standing waves and boundary reflections without expensive acoustic treatment. The neutral coaxial design makes them equally at home in stereo mixing, immersive formats, or critical reference listening. A 2–year warranty (extendable to 5 years with registration) reflects the build quality. Note that calibration requires either the 9320A SAM™ Reference Controller or a separate GLM Calibration Kit, both sold independently.
