Focusrite ISA C8X 26-Input 28-Output 8-Preamp USB-C Audio Interface w/ 2 x ISA Preamps

The Focusrite ISA C8X is a 2U rack–mounted audio interface that positions Focusrite's revered preamp topology into a studio–scale hub. Eight channels of remote–controlled mic preamplification, with the first two pair fitted with Class A Lundahl LL1538 transformer–balanced circuitry, form the centrepiece. A 26–in / 28–out USB–C backbone supports full session capture and routing, whilst switchable input impedance and parametric high–pass filtering at 75 Hz grant the kind of signal–conditioning control expected in broadcast and recording facilities.

The preamp stage delivers up to 79 dB of gain across all eight channels, with dual ISA front–ends offering selectable Console and 430 Air modes to sculpt tone without a mixing desk. A/D and D/A conversion runs at 24–bit / 192 kHz resolution with 125 dB dynamic range and noise floor at –128 dB EIN (A–weighted), ensuring transparent capture of acoustic source material. Eight independent phantom power supplies, two balanced insert sends and returns, plus dual ADAT I/O (16 channels at 48 kHz), S/PDIF, and word clock synchronisation support complex session architectures and outboard chain integration without compromise.

Focusrite Control 2 software bridges front–panel operation and DAW integration, enabling snapshot recall and automated gain riding. The ISA C8X suits tracking–heavy productions where impedance matching and preamp character drive the aesthetic, as well as mastering and mixing suites where routing flexibility and headphone distribution (twin 1/4" outputs) reduce operational friction.
