The Fender Custom Shop Postmodern Stratocaster Journeyman Relic in Aged Black is a Masterbuilt instrument by Greg Fessler, one of Fender’s most respected Custom Shop builders. Combining early-’60s Strat DNA with modern refinement, this Derringers-spec Postmodern Strat delivers the feel of a lifelong companion with the precision and reliability expected from a world-class Masterbuilt guitar.
A two-piece alder body with deep ’57 contours is finished in Flash Coat lacquer with a Journeyman Relic treatment, producing resonant, broken-in response with authentic visual character. The riftsawn maple neck features a comfortable ’60s Style Oval “C” profile and a 9.5"–12" compound-radius AAA round-lam rosewood fingerboard for seamless playability across every register.
Josefina Hand Wound Tomatillo pickups provide articulate vintage-inspired tone with added punch and clarity, paired with Derringers’ customised Postmodern Fat ’50s wiring. A hotter bridge pickup, RW/RP middle, and classic CRL 5-way switching ensure versatility from glassy cleans to driven leads, making this Masterbuilt Strat equally at home in the studio or under stage lights.
