The Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Greg Fessler '63 Telecaster Custom Relic in Aged Sonic Blue is a hand–built recreation of Fender's golden–era solidbody electric. Built from two–piece select alder and aged in nitrocellulose lacquer, this Time Machine series model captures the look and feel of a 1963 original. Greg Fessler's meticulous relic work reveals natural wear patterns that took decades to develop on vintage instruments, paired with a rift sawn maple neck shaped to 1960s Oval "C" proportions.
Tone comes from a pair of Custom Shop hand–wound pickups: the Original Blackguard bridge unit delivers throaty midrange and bite, while the Twisted neck pickup offers crystalline articulation. The 21 narrow tall frets sit on a 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard, and a Greasebucket™ tone circuit with 3–way switching lets you dial from bright to dark without losing definition. A vintage–style bridge with threaded steel saddles, bone nut, and wine tuners complete the hardware; 25.5" scale length and standard Telecaster body shape anchor familiar playing geometry.
This machine suits studio work and stage alike. The aged Sonic Blue finish sits between Olympic White and Lake Placid Blue in tone, with relic lacquer showing through at the edges and body contours. Included are a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and serialised certificate of authenticity.
