The legendary Fender Telecaster celebrates its 70th anniversary with a stunning tribute that captures the revolutionary spirit of Leo Fender's groundbreaking 1951 design. Named after the television "telecasts" that were reshaping communication in the early 1950s, the Telecaster became one of the most influential and beloved instruments in popular music history, fundamentally changing how electric guitars were conceived and played.
Fender's Custom Shop has crafted the Limited Edition 1951 Telecaster as a faithful homage to this iconic original, offering six distinct ageing options: NOS, Deluxe Closet Classic, Journeyman Relic®, Relic, Heavy Relic, and Super Heavy Relic. The instrument features premium construction with a two-piece select ash body and a one-piece AA flame quartersawn maple neck sporting the classic 10/’56 “V” profile that players adore.
Authentic period details define this anniversary model, including hand-wound ’50-’51 Blackguard pickups paired with ’51 modified “Nocaster®” wiring that recreates the original's distinctive tonal characteristics with its blender pot and enhanced rhythm setting. The 7.25”-9.5” vintage compound-radius fingerboard with 21 narrow tall frets provides exceptional playability, while the black phenolic pickguard, ’51-’54 Tele bridge with brass saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and disk string tree complete the historically accurate specification. Each instrument comes with a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.
