The Fender® Custom Shop Dual‐Mag II Stratocaster® pickups represent a sophisticated approach to magnetic pickup design, combining two distinct alnico magnet types to achieve exceptional tonal balance. These premium pickups feature unbeveled alnico 5 magnets positioned beneath the low E through G strings, paired with hand‐beveled alnico 2 magnets for the B and high E strings. This thoughtful magnetic configuration produces shimmering, clear highs whilst maintaining rich, full lows that define the classic Stratocaster sound.

The custom stagger design incorporates a “low G” magnet arrangement that creates a seamless transition from wound to plain strings. The alnico 5 magnet beneath the G string ensures that crucial string “sings” with perfect clarity, while the slightly taller alnico 2 magnets under the B and high E strings exceed vintage specifications to maintain optimal string‐to‐string balance. Each pickup receives copper shielding tape wrapping to minimise unwanted noise, and the middle pickup features RWRP winding to eliminate hum when using positions 2 and 4.

Constructed with formvar‐coated magnet wire that enhances overall brightness, these pickups maintain traditional appointments including cloth wire and fibre bobbin construction. The Dual Mag II Strat® pickup lives up to its name by utilising dual magnet technology to produce one of the clearest, most well‐balanced pickup sounds available, complete with installation hardware for straightforward fitting.
