The Evans Pipe Band Snare batter head is a purposefully engineered drumhead developed in partnership with Stephen Creighton and the St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band. Designed to meet the demands of both contemporary and traditional pipe band drummers, this 14” batter delivers the tonal precision and pitch control required at championship level. Available in two specifications–oversize (PB-SB1A) and standard (PB-SB1B)–the head accommodates both Premier oversized shells and standard models from Andante and Pearl.
High tensile proprietary fibres form the core of this drumhead's construction, producing clear, articulate attack with measurable durability across extended playing sessions. The engineering prioritises consistency whether the head is deployed in solo competition or full corps settings, where tension stability and tonal projection are non-negotiable. Manufacturing occurs entirely in the USA, allowing Evans direct oversight of materials and tolerance throughout production, critical for the precision required in pipe band snare work.
