The legendary automotive designer Ray Dietrich’s groundbreaking guitar design lives on in the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V Reissue with Maestro Vibrola. This authentic replica captures the essence of Gibson’s first neck–through–body guitar from 1963, an instrument that found its way into the hands of blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music. The collaboration between Epiphone and Gibson® Custom brings vintage Firebird specifications to musicians at an accessible price point.

At the heart of this instrument lies a 9–ply neck–through–body construction crafted from mahogany and walnut, with mahogany body wings flanking either side of the neck. This construction method ensures the tuners, pickup, and bridge are all anchored into the same pieces of wood, resulting in exceptional resonance, sustain, and tonal transfer. The neck features a SlimTaper™ Rounded C profile with soft fretboard edges that provide a comfortable, played–in feel right out of the case.

Attention to historical detail extends throughout the instrument, from the rosewood fretboard adorned with mother–of–pearl trapezoid inlays to the 22 medium jumbo frets. Even the side dot position markers match the size and placement of vintage Firebirds. Kluson™ planetary geared “banjo” tuners maintain the authentic headstock appearance, while an Epiphone ABR–1 bridge and Maestro™ Vibrola™ with engraved Epiphone logo anchor the strings at the body end. Premium electronics include Gibson USA Firebird mini humbucker™ pickups with Alnico 5 magnets, CTS™ potentiometers, Mallory™ capacitors, and a Switchcraft™ 3–way pickup selector toggle switch and 1/4” output jack. An Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom hardshell case completes the package.
