The Futura Explorer Custom channels the angular geometry of Gibson’s 1950s icon through a contemporary lens. Epiphone’s latest Futura series marries that heritage design language with modern playability features–compound-radius fingerboard, locking tuners, coil-splitting electronics–pitched at players who want studio and stage versatility without premium pricing. The Dragonfly Shift finish delivers that visual differentiation touring and content-creation rigs demand.
Construction centres on a mahogany body with multi-ply binding, paired to a Modern C profile mahogany neck measuring 628.65 mm across 22 medium jumbo stainless steel frets. The 10”–14” compound radius fingerboard (ebony, bound) balances open-position chord comfort with soloing precision. Epiphone’s new ProBucker® Ignite humbuckers power the signal path; dual push/pull controls unlock coil-splitting and phase-switching options, expanding tonal range without cluttering the control plate. Hardware includes a LockTone® Tune-O-Matic® bridge, LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece, and locking Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners for tuning stability during extended sets.
The included gig bag provides practical protection for transit between venues or recording sessions. Super 400–style pearloid split block inlays and a bound headstock signal the attention to detail across the instrument. This combination of hardware refinement, pickup versatility, and finish execution positions the Futura Explorer Custom as a legitimate workhorse for both studio tracking and live performance.
