The legendary F-5 mandolin design that helped birth bluegrass music has been masterfully recreated in Epiphone's collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop. This exceptional F-5G represents Epiphone's finest mandolin achievement to date, drawing from a rich heritage that traces back to company founder Anastasios Stathopoulo's first patent in 1909 and Gibson Master Luthier Lloyd Loar's iconic 1920s design.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the F-5G features all solid wood construction including figured maple back and sides paired with a solid Sitka Spruce top. The figured maple neck incorporates an ebony fretboard with compound radius design (10" at the nut, 12" at the fretboard's end) and showcases an F-style scroll headstock fitted with vintage-style tuners and pearloid buttons.
Premium appointments include three-ply top binding, mother-of-pearl "The Epiphone" and flowerpot headstock inlays, all finished in a stunning Cremona Sunburst. The instrument produces balanced, deep, and resonant tones with excellent projection for both rhythmic chops and melodic lead work. A vintage-style rectangular hard-shell case completes this remarkable package.
