Legends have wielded this iconic instrument for decades, and now the 1957 SJ–200 brings that same commanding presence to modern players. Known as the "King of the Flat–Tops," the world–famous SJ–200 has been the trusted companion of singing cowboys, country stars, folk artists, and rock icons throughout music history. Epiphone has collaborated with the Gibson Custom Shop to create this impressive tribute that captures the essence of the original.
The guitar showcases premium construction with a thermally aged solid Sitka spruce top reinforced by scalloped X–bracing, paired with solid figured maple back and sides. The flame maple neck features a comfortable C–profile, laurel fretboard, and elegant graduated crown mother of pearl inlays that catch the light beautifully.
Authentic details define this instrument, from the Gibson "open book" headstock shape adorned with mother–of–pearl crown and Epiphone logo inlays, to the Inspired by Gibson Custom double diamond logo etched into the back. The classic J–200 open moustache bridge and engraved pickguard maintain the traditional aesthetic, while the compensated bone saddle, bone nut, and bone bridge pins ensure optimal tone and sustain.
Ready for both stage and studio applications, the guitar comes fitted with an L.R. Baggs™ VTC preamp and under saddle pickup system. It arrives in an Inspired by Gibson Custom hard–shell case, making it performance–ready straight from the box.
