The EMPRESS Distortion is a three–mode stompbox designed to cover everything from light breakup to saturated lead tones with the compression and feel of a high–gain amplifier. True bypass switching keeps the signal path clean when disengaged. The pedal's defining characteristic is its tight low–end response across all three modes, preventing the muddiness that plagues many high–gain designs while maintaining clarity even under heavy distortion.
Three distinct modes shape the character: Mild offers touch–sensitive breakup that responds to guitar volume adjustments, Crunch delivers a focused midrange bite, and Lead provides sustained high–gain tones. The control set includes gain, two–band EQ for frequency shaping, and output level. The frequency response spans 20Hz to 12kHz at the –3dB point, with a 300k input impedance and 5k output impedance. The die–cast aluminium enclosure measures 4.5" long by 2.5" wide and 1.5" high, with a 2.1mm barrel connector accepting standard 9V DC negative–tip power at approximately 35mA consumption.
