The Elektron Tonverk is built as a performance instrument for the modern era, combining deep sampling, sequencing, and sound design into a streamlined creative hub. Designed for flexibility, it balances the precision needed for studio production with the immediacy required on stage, ensuring artists can shape and perform their music in real time.
With eight stereo audio tracks, four buses, three sends, and a dedicated mix track, Tonverk delivers enormous routing and layering potential. Each audio track can host one of four machines – from straightforward sample playback to complex multi-layered subtracks or external MIDI sequencing. Its sound engine is supported by a wide-ranging factory library of samples, kits, and instruments, giving creators immediate inspiration.
Tonverk's sequencer provides extensive creative control. Up to 256 steps per track can be programmed with polyphony, parameter locks, trig conditions, and micro timing. Arpeggiators on both audio and MIDI tracks, retrigs, and sequencer lanes open new rhythmic territory. Song Mode, Step Edit, and performance-focused options like Chord Mode and Keyboard Mode keep compositions fluid and adaptable.
Effects are integral to Tonverk's design. Filterbank, Phase 98, Infinite Flanger, Warble, Chrono Pitch, Dirtshaper, Daisy Delay, and Supervoid Reverb are just a few of the processors available to transform and expand sound. Each bus, send, and mix channel can host its own modulation sources, while dedicated LFOs and envelopes per track give dynamic expression and evolving textures.
Connectivity and integration are at a professional level, with dual USB–C ports, SD card slot, balanced ins/outs, MIDI I/O with DIN Sync, and class-compliant USB audio. Combined with an OLED display, robust steel chassis, and Elektron's renowned workflow, Tonverk is a comprehensive platform for producers and performers seeking limitless sonic exploration.
The new Tonverk OS 1.1.0 update introduces a major feature expansion headlined by Grainer, a playful granular SRC machine that transforms tiny sound fragments into entirely new textures with extensive control and three versatile Play Modes. This update also adds the Shape machine for enhanced bus and send processing, flexible bus compressor sidechain source selection, post‐FX pan control, and wide workflow improvements including fully functional USB MIDI I/O, an upgraded Auto Sampler, Undo/Redo for key pattern operations, sharper sample browsing, Trig Preview, a new name editor, expanded FLAC and ALAC (M4A and CAF) sample support, a memory‐usage display, and more fixes arriving beyond version 1.1.0.
