The Digitone II reimagines FM synthesis as a multitimbral powerhouse, offering four distinct synth machines that push sonic boundaries beyond traditional expectations. This 16-voice polyphonic synthesiser features Wavetone for classic 2-oscillator morphing, Swarmer for rich super saw textures, the original FM Tone engine, and FM Drum for percussive flexibility that extends into melodic territory. Each machine provides extensive tweakability within a modular workflow that lets you assign any of the 16 tracks to synthesis or MIDI duties.

The instrument's modular architecture centres around flexible sound shaping with six selectable filter machines including Multi-mode, EQ, Comb filters, and Legacy options. Three assignable LFOs per voice work alongside dedicated amp envelopes (ADSR or AHD), while comprehensive modulation setups handle aftertouch, pitch bend, mod wheel, velocity, breath control, and key tracking. Send effects including Saturator Delay, Supervoid Reverb, and Panoramic Chorus add spatial dimension, with master compression and overdrive providing final polish.

The enhanced Elektron sequencer drives creativity with 128 steps per pattern, Parameter Lock capabilities, and Euclidean sequence generation for mathematically-driven patterns. Performance features include detailed note editing for individual chord components, built-in arpeggiators, and live recording with overdub functionality.
