A 134 dB maximum SPL from a rig that still loads in as a column and a sub is the headline on the Electro-Voice EVOLVE 90. This portable powered column system pairs an eight-driver array with an 18” subwoofer and 2000W of onboard amplification, aimed at gigs with audiences of up to 500 people. Even with that large sub, the total weight is 44.5 kg, which Electro-Voice says is lighter than some competing 15” models.
The column houses eight 4.7” neodymium drivers behind proprietary waveguides, producing 120° horizontal coverage and an asymmetrical 25° vertical pattern. FIR processing keeps frequency response linear and phase aligned. Low end comes from the 18” sub with a 4” voice coil and a laminar-flow vent, reaching down to 28 Hz. Amplification is split 1000W for the low channel and 1000W for the high channel. That headroom suits bass-heavy dance material, with a frequency response of 35 Hz–18 kHz.
Connectivity covers most gig scenarios: two XLR/TRS combo inputs, a stereo XLR/RCA input, AES/EBU digital I/O, QuickSmart Link and Bluetooth® stereo streaming. Power connects via PowerCON®. The white finish suits venues and events where a black stack would stand out for the wrong reasons, and the same system is also available in black.
