Electro Harmonix J Mascis Ram's Head Big Muff PI Fuzz/Distortion/Sustainer

Channel the legendary fuzz tone that defined alternative rock with the J Mascis Ram’s Head Big Muff Pi, a signature pedal that captures decades of sonic innovation in a striking white and violet finish. This special edition pays tribute to the Dinosaur Jr. frontman’s iconic sound, which he describes as his constant companion: “That’s my sound. The Muff is always on.”

Built upon the foundation of the highly sought-after 1973 Electro-Harmonix V2 Violet Ram’s Head Big Muff, this signature model reproduces the indulgent fuzz and exceptional sustain that has anchored J Mascis’ tone for decades. The pedal maintains the thickness and clarity that made the original so coveted amongst guitarists seeking that perfect balance of power and definition.

What sets this Big Muff apart is its remarkable articulation and string separation, making it one of the most versatile iterations in the Big Muff family. The fuzz responds with both smoothness and aggression, allowing your lead lines to cut through the mix while your chord work maintains its thunderous presence. This sonic versatility stems from the pedal’s excellent dynamics and responsive character, proving why it remains at the heart of one of alternative rock’s most recognisable guitar sounds.
