DW Design Series 14" x 6.5" Black Nickel Over Brass Snare Drum

DW's Design Series snare brings custom–grade hardware and shell engineering to a price point that doesn't require a specialist endorsement deal. The 14” × 6.5” brass shell is black nickel–plated and beaded, delivering sharp attack that cuts through a full mix while retaining musical undertone. Mini–turret lugs, DW MAG throw–off, and True–Pitch tuning rods handle the mechanics.

The 1mm rolled brass shell produces bright, defined tones with clear articulation across a range of tuning heights. True–Pitch tension rods feature extra threads to lock in your tuning without slippage, critical for gigs where drums need to hold position through a full set. The MAG throw–off mechanism engages and disengages snare wires with friction–free precision, giving you dead–on response every time you flip it.

Depth and shell material matter for recording and live work alike. At 6.5”, this snare sits between shallow and standard, covering studio tracks, worship settings, and touring rigs without forcing compromise. Bedroom producers and gigging drummers both benefit from brass's natural brightness and the tuning stability that True–Pitch rods provide when tracking takes or running back–to–back shows.
