Robinson, this beater builds on DW's Control Beater platform—the standard across premium DW pedals. The defining feature is its 8.15" shaft, delivering extended throw and measurable power compared to shorter designs. Oversized square beater faces in wood or felt maximise head contact for punchy, articulate attack.

Weight tuning sets the Control XL apart from fixed–head alternatives. The beater ships loaded with four removable weights (10g each), bringing total mass to 120g; stripped down, the bare head weighs 80g. This 40g range lets drummers dial in response from snappy and responsive to heavy and dark without swapping hardware. Interchangeable playing surfaces mean instant tonal shifts in one motion, cutting setup time during rehearsals or studio sessions.
