Drum Workshop's 5000 Series Double Bass Drum Pedal represents the evolution of a workhorse design that shaped modern kick drum technique. The updated model retains the core engineering—aluminium hex shafts, linkages, and the patented Delta Ball-Bearing Hinge—while introducing substantive refinements aimed at precision and control. The standout improvement is the Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp, featuring three 360-degree rotating rubber pads that grip bass drum hoops from top and bottom with zero slippage, regardless of diameter or thickness.

Construction changes enhance responsiveness across the board. A Dual-Bearing Spring Rocker replaces the single-bearing setup, quickening the rocker's return and sharpening feel. The dual-chain Accelerator drive system employs eccentric sprocket motion to shorten footboard stroke whilst increasing velocity and sensitivity—useful for navigating fast ghost notes or explosive double kicks. The 5002 model incorporates a Single Post Casting design that positions the auxiliary pedal closer to the hi-hat, simplifying cross-pedal transitions and simultaneous striking. Textured rubber base padding and aluminium footboard options round out the mechanical package.
