Dunlop Tortex Jazz III XL Guitar Pick 12-Pack 1.35mm

Since 1981, Tortex® Picks have redefined what guitarists expect from their plectrum, evolving from a simple tortoiseshell replacement into the industry benchmark that all other picks are measured against. Jim Dunlop’s innovative creation established its own distinct identity, becoming far more significant than its original purpose as a high-quality alternative to natural tortoiseshell materials.

Drawing from the precision and colour-coded gauge system he pioneered with Nylon Picks, Jim Dunlop set out to craft a pick that would offer bright, snappy attack characteristics alongside superior memory, exceptional durability, and enhanced grip performance. His choice of Delrin as the foundation material proved inspired, though it was the extensive development process that followed – over a year of refining a specialised treatment technique – that truly unlocked the material’s potential.

The proprietary treatment process remains the defining feature that distinguishes Tortex Picks from all competitors, creating their distinctive matte surface that enhances grip while producing an aggressive, cutting attack. Jim’s expansion of the colour-coded gauge system resulted in the vibrant, enduring palette that has become standard across the industry. By maintaining Jim’s original formula without compromise, Dunlop has ensured Tortex Picks remain their most popular pick line, still manufactured at their Benicia, California headquarters.
